CALL FOR PAPERS
The 13th Biennial Jerusalem Conference in Canadian Studies
Jerusalem, Israel, June 28-July 1, 2010
The 13th biennial conference of the Israel Association for Canadian Studies and the Halbert Centre for Canadian Studies will take place on the Mount Scopus campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from Monday, June 28 through Thursday July 1, 2010. The conference, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Association, will focus on:
ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES IN CANADA, ISRAEL, AND BEYOND
In the context of the conference, the term environment encompasses the physical, ecological, social, legal, economic, cultural, political, institutional, technological, and individual. The conference organizers welcome proposals relating to the theme in diverse fields such as:
Philosophy and Ethics
Urban and Regional Planning
Presentations must deal with the topic of environmental challenges either within Canada or containing some Canadian content for comparative purposes.
Anyone interested in presenting research relevant to the central theme of the conference is invited to submit a double-spaced 250-350-word abstract in Times New Roman 12 point font, and a short bionote (150-200 words) stating their affiliation, position and field of specialization. Each proposal should specify which aspects(s) of the theme it addresses.
Abstracts in English or French should be sent by e-mail to the Conference Secretariat no later than December 15, 2009. Participants will be notified whether their abstracts have been accepted by March 1, 2010. We hope to publish the principal papers in a conference book, so presenters interested in being considered for inclusion in the book should submit their full papers during the Conference, at the latest.
Accepted speakers will receive free registration, as well as subsidized accommodation and meals. Partial support for airfare may be provided according to budget availability. All enquiries and submission of abstracts should be made to the Conference Secretariat.
